So, what is sorbitan?
Sorbitan is a food ingredient derived from the sugar alcohol sorbitol. It is commonly used as an emulsifier and stabilizer in food products, including baked goods, candy, and chocolate. Sorbitan helps prevent ingredients from separating and improves the texture and consistency of products. It is also used in personal care products, such as lotions and creams, to create a smooth and creamy texture. Sorbitan is considered safe for consumption in moderate amounts, and is an approved food additive by the FDA.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
