So, what is stearic?
Stearic acid is a type of saturated fatty acid that is commonly found in many natural sources, including animal fats and vegetable oils. It is a waxy, solid substance with a melting point of around 70Β°C, and is often used in the food industry as an emulsifier, stabilizer, and thickening agent. Stearic acid is also a popular ingredient in cosmetic and personal care products due to its ability to improve texture and consistency. Although stearic acid is generally considered safe for consumption, excessive intake may lead to elevated levels of cholesterol in the blood.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
