So, what is unrefined sugar?
Unrefined sugar, also known as raw sugar or natural sugar, is a minimally processed sweetener that retains the natural molasses and minerals found in sugarcane juice. Unlike refined sugar, which undergoes multiple processing steps to remove impurities and extract the sugar crystals, unrefined sugar is simply crystallized and dried. It has a golden-brown color and a slightly sticky texture, with a rich, caramel-like flavor that adds depth and complexity to baked goods, coffee, tea, and other sweet treats. Unrefined sugar is often preferred by health-conscious consumers who want to avoid highly processed sweeteners and enjoy a more natural, wholesome alternative.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
