So, what is veenbessen?

Veenbessen, also known as lingonberries, are small, tart berries native to the boreal forests of Northern Europe, Asia, and North America. These bright red berries are often used in traditional Scandinavian cuisine, where they are prized for their tangy flavor and high nutritional value. Veenbessen are a good source of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, and are believed to have anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting properties. They are commonly enjoyed in jams, sauces, and desserts, but can also be used in savory dishes to add a unique, tart flavor.
