So, what is vegetal fat?
Vegetal fat, also known as vegetable fat, is a type of fat derived from plant sources. It is commonly used in food production as a substitute for animal-based fats, such as butter or lard. Some common sources of vegetal fat include soybeans, sunflowers, palm nuts, and coconut. It is often used in baked goods, margarine, and cooking oils. Vegetal fat can provide a similar texture and flavor to animal fats, but it is generally considered to be a healthier option, as it is lower in saturated fats and cholesterol. Additionally, vegetal fat is often used in vegan and vegetarian diets as a source of fat.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
