So, what is nitrite de sodiums?
Sodium nitrite is a white to slightly yellowish crystalline powder commonly used as a food preservative and color fixative. It is often added to cured meats like bacon, hot dogs, and deli meats to prevent bacterial growth and to give the meat a pinkish color. However, sodium nitrite has been linked to health concerns when consumed in large quantities, including an increased risk of cancer and other diseases. As a result, many food manufacturers are now exploring natural alternatives to sodium nitrite to preserve their products.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
