So, what is dextrines?
Dextrines are a group of carbohydrates derived from the breakdown of starch molecules through the process of hydrolysis. They are commonly used in the food industry as thickening agents, bulking agents, and stabilizers due to their ability to absorb water and form gels. Dextrines are also used as a source of energy in sports nutrition products and as a coating for confectionery items to prevent them from sticking together. They come in various forms, including white powder, syrup, and flakes, and can be derived from sources such as corn, wheat, and potatoes.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
