So, what is partially hydrogenated palm oils?
Partially hydrogenated palm oils are a type of vegetable oil that has undergone a process of partial hydrogenation, which transforms them into a more solid form. This makes them an ideal ingredient for a variety of food products, such as baked goods and snacks, as it can help improve their texture and extend their shelf life. However, partially hydrogenated palm oils are also a source of trans fats, which can be harmful to health when consumed in large amounts. As such, many food manufacturers have started to replace them with healthier alternatives, such as fully hydrogenated oils or non-hydrogenated oils.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
