So, what is sorbitóis?
Sorbitols are sugar alcohols that occur naturally in various fruits and vegetables, including berries, cherries, apples, and peaches. They are also commonly used as a sweetener in many processed foods and beverages because they have about half the calories of regular sugar but provide a similar level of sweetness. Sorbitols have a cooling effect on the tongue and can help improve texture and moisture retention in baked goods. While sorbitols are generally considered safe for consumption, excessive intake can cause gastrointestinal discomfort and diarrhea. Therefore, it's important to consume them in moderation.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
