So, what is acetylated di-starch adipate?
Acetylated di-starch adipate is a modified starch commonly used as a food thickener and stabilizer. It is created by treating starch with acetic anhydride, resulting in a product that is more resistant to heat, acid, and shear than regular starch. The adipic acid component of this ingredient helps to increase its water-holding capacity, making it ideal for use in soups, sauces, gravies, and other liquid-based foods. Acetylated di-starch adipate is also used to improve the texture and mouthfeel of processed meats, baked goods, and snacks.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
