So, what is amido de milho?
Amido de milho, also known as cornstarch, is a fine, powdery white substance made from the endosperm of the corn kernel. It is commonly used as a thickening agent in a variety of foods, including sauces, soups, and custards, due to its ability to absorb liquid and form a smooth, creamy texture. In addition to its thickening properties, amido de milho is also used as a binding agent in baked goods and as a coating for fried foods, providing a crispy exterior. It is a versatile ingredient that is gluten-free and can be used as a substitute for flour in many recipes.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
