So, what is black cardamon?
Black cardamom is a spice that comes from the dried fruit of the perennial plant Elettaria cardamomum. This variety of cardamom has a distinctively smoky and earthy flavor, with notes of resin and camphor, making it a staple ingredient in savory dishes like stews, curries, and biryanis. Black cardamom pods are larger and darker than green cardamom, with a rougher exterior and fewer seeds inside. The pods are typically used whole in recipes, but can also be crushed or ground for a more intense flavor. In addition to its culinary uses, black cardamom is also prized for its medicinal properties and is commonly used in Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine to treat digestive issues and respiratory ailments.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
