So, what is carbon?
Carbon is a naturally occurring element that can be found in various forms, from graphite to diamonds. As a food ingredient, carbon takes on the form of activated charcoal, a fine black powder with a porous texture that is made by heating organic materials such as coconut shells or wood at high temperatures. Activated charcoal has gained popularity in recent years for its purported health benefits, including its ability to absorb toxins and impurities in the body. It is used in various culinary applications, such as adding a unique color and flavor to food and drinks or as a natural food preservative. However, it should be noted that activated charcoal can also absorb nutrients and medications, so its use should be carefully monitored.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
