So, what is caustic sulfite caramel?
Caustic sulfite caramel is a dark, viscous liquid made by heating sugar in the presence of sulfites and alkali. It has a bitter, burnt flavor and is commonly used as a coloring and flavoring agent in various food products such as baked goods, beverages, and candies. Due to its high pH and chemical composition, it can react with other ingredients, making it an important component in certain food processing applications. However, it should be handled with care, as direct contact with skin or eyes can cause irritation and damage.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
