So, what is d-trehalose?
D-trehalose is a natural sugar that is found in various organisms, including fungi, bacteria, and plants. It is a disaccharide composed of two glucose molecules, connected by an α,α-1,1 glycosidic bond. D-trehalose is an excellent stabilizer and preservative, which is why it is used in many food products. It can prevent the denaturation of proteins and other biomolecules, and it can also protect against oxidation and dehydration. Additionally, d-trehalose is a low-calorie sweetener that is suitable for people with diabetes or those who are watching their sugar intake.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
