So, what is dark rum?

Dark rum is a rich, aromatic liquor made from molasses or sugarcane juice that has been aged in charred oak barrels. This aged spirit is darker in color and richer in flavor than white or gold rums, with notes of vanilla, caramel, and spice. The longer the rum is aged, the deeper and more complex the flavors become. Dark rum is a versatile ingredient that can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or in a variety of cocktails, such as the classic Dark and Stormy or the warming Hot Buttered Rum. Its smooth and slightly sweet taste makes it a perfect addition to desserts, marinades, and savory dishes.

How to quickly find the source of ingredients like dark rum?

We've built a database of 49359 ingredients (and growing), classified as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "maybe vegan".

We use it in our vegan ingredients scanner, which is the best way to avoid non-vegan ingredients - you take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
