So, what is elecampane?
Elecampane is a herbaceous perennial plant that is native to Europe and Asia. Its scientific name is Inula helenium, and it belongs to the Asteraceae family. Elecampane has a tall stem that can grow up to six feet high, with broad leaves that are hairy and toothed. The plant produces yellow, daisy-like flowers that bloom in the summer. The root of the elecampane plant is used in traditional medicine and culinary applications. It has a sweet, spicy flavor that is reminiscent of licorice and is often used to flavor liqueurs, confectionery, and herbal teas. Elecampane is also believed to have anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and expectorant properties, making it a popular choice for treating respiratory issues such as coughs, bronchitis, and asthma.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
