So, what is fast yellow?
Fast yellow is a synthetic food coloring agent that is widely used in the food industry to enhance the color of various foods and beverages. This bright yellow pigment, also known as tartrazine, is derived from coal tar and contains a chemical compound called azo dye. Its versatility makes it commonly used in sweets, soft drinks, baked goods, and even dairy products. Fast yellow has been approved by the FDA and is generally considered safe for consumption when used in small amounts, but some studies have linked it to adverse health effects such as hyperactivity and allergic reactions in sensitive individuals.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
