So, what is geelwortel?
Geelwortel, or Curcuma longa, is a vibrant yellow-orange rhizome commonly used in Indian and Southeast Asian cuisine. Also known as turmeric, it provides a distinct earthy and slightly bitter taste to dishes, along with a warm aroma. Geelwortel contains the active compound curcumin, which has potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that make it a popular natural remedy for various ailments. In addition to its culinary and medicinal uses, geelwortel is also utilized as a dye and cosmetic ingredient due to its intense color.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
