So, what is glutamate de sodium?
Glutamate de sodium is a flavor enhancer commonly used in the food industry to improve the taste of processed foods. Also known as monosodium glutamate (MSG), this ingredient is a salt form of glutamic acid, an amino acid found naturally in many foods such as tomatoes, cheese, and mushrooms. Glutamate de sodium adds a savory umami taste to dishes and is often used in Asian cuisine. While it has been the subject of controversy in the past, studies have shown that MSG is safe for most people when consumed in moderation.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
