So, what is inosinic acid?
Inosinic acid, also known as inosine monophosphate (IMP), is a naturally occurring nucleotide found in a variety of foods such as meat, fish, and mushrooms. It is used as a flavor enhancer in the food industry, especially in processed foods and instant noodles, to improve taste and impart a savory or umami flavor. Inosinic acid works by stimulating the taste receptors on the tongue, enhancing the perception of salty and savory flavors. It is generally recognized as safe by regulatory agencies, but excessive intake may cause health problems in susceptible individuals.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
