So, what is sorbitane tri stearate?
Sorbitane tri stearate is a food-grade emulsifier commonly used in the food industry to enhance the texture and stability of processed foods. This ingredient is derived from sorbitol, a sugar alcohol that occurs naturally in fruits, and stearic acid, a saturated fatty acid found in animal and vegetable fats. Sorbitane tri stearate is a white or creamy-colored powder with a faint odor and a melting point of around 50Β°C. It is often used in baked goods, confectionery, sauces, dressings, and margarine to improve their consistency, prevent separation, and prolong shelf life.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
