So, what is κάρυ?

Κάρυ (karý) is a spice blend that originated in South Asia and is now widely used in various cuisines around the world. Typically, it consists of a mixture of ground spices such as cumin, coriander, turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves. The combination of these spices creates a distinctive flavor profile that's both earthy and mildly sweet, with a hint of warmth and subtle bitterness. This versatile ingredient adds depth to curries, stews, soups, and marinades, and can also be used as a seasoning for roasted meats, vegetables, and grains. Its bright yellow color makes it an attractive garnish, making dishes look as good as they taste.
