So, what is lactasa?

Lactasa is a naturally occurring enzyme that plays a crucial role in the digestion of lactose, a type of sugar found in milk and dairy products. Without lactasa, lactose cannot be broken down into simpler forms that can be absorbed into the bloodstream, leading to symptoms such as bloating, gas, and diarrhea in individuals with lactose intolerance. Lactasa supplements are available for those who struggle to digest lactose, allowing them to enjoy dairy products without discomfort. This enzyme is also used in the food industry to produce lactose-free dairy products, including milk, cheese, and ice cream.

How to quickly find the source of ingredients like lactasa?

We've built a database of 49359 ingredients (and growing), classified as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "maybe vegan".

We use it in our vegan ingredients scanner, which is the best way to avoid non-vegan ingredients - you take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
