So, what is lumpfish?
Lumpfish, also known as lumpsucker, is a small, colorful fish found in the cold waters of the North Atlantic and Arctic Ocean. They have a distinctive appearance with a round, almost spherical body covered in bony plates and a sucker disk on their bellies. Lumpfish roe is a popular ingredient in Scandinavian and Eastern European cuisines, often used as a garnish or in sauces. The roe is typically bright orange in color and has a slightly salty, briny flavor. Lumpfish caviar is a great addition to canapes, sushi, or salads, adding a burst of flavor and texture to any dish.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
