So, what is monobasic sodium phosphate?
Monobasic sodium phosphate is a food ingredient commonly used as an emulsifier, pH buffer, and thickener. It is a white crystalline powder that is highly soluble in water and has a slightly salty taste. Monobasic sodium phosphate is often added to processed foods such as canned soups and meats, dairy products, and baked goods to enhance their texture, improve their shelf life, and stabilize their pH levels. Although there are no significant health risks associated with consuming monobasic sodium phosphate in moderate amounts, excessive intake may cause digestive discomfort and other adverse effects.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
