So, what is monopotassic tartrate?
Monopotassic tartrate, also known as potassium bitartrate or cream of tartar, is a white crystalline powder that is commonly used in cooking and baking. It is a byproduct of the winemaking process and is often used to stabilize egg whites, as well as to add acidity to baked goods. Monopotassic tartrate has a slightly tart taste and is often used as a substitute for baking powder in recipes that require an acidic ingredient. It is also used in some cleaning products as a natural abrasive and is believed to have some health benefits, such as aiding digestion and reducing inflammation.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
