So, what is palmöl?
Palmöl, also known as palm oil, is a versatile and widely used vegetable oil derived from the fruit of oil palm trees. With a distinct reddish-orange hue, palmöl is high in saturated fats and is commonly used in food products like margarine, baked goods, and snack foods. Additionally, it is a popular ingredient in personal care and household products due to its moisturizing and emulsifying properties. However, palmöl has become a controversial ingredient due to its impact on the environment, as the production of palmöl is often associated with deforestation and habitat destruction for endangered species.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
