So, what is panko?
Panko is a type of Japanese breadcrumb that is popular in many parts of the world. Unlike traditional breadcrumbs, which are made from dried and pulverized bread, panko is made from bread that is baked using an electrical current, resulting in a crumb that is lighter, airier, and more crisp than regular breadcrumbs. Panko has a distinctive texture and a neutral flavor that makes it ideal for coating and frying a variety of foods, such as seafood, vegetables, and meats. Because of its light texture, panko tends to absorb less oil than regular breadcrumbs, resulting in a lighter and less greasy final product. Panko can be found in most grocery stores and is a staple ingredient in many kitchens.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
