So, what is provitamin?
Provitamins are organic compounds that are converted into essential vitamins by the body through various metabolic processes. These compounds are not active as vitamins themselves but serve as precursors for the production of active forms of vitamins. Provitamins are commonly found in fruits, vegetables, and other whole foods, and their consumption can help to maintain overall health and prevent deficiencies. One of the most well-known provitamins is beta-carotene, which is converted into vitamin A in the body. Other examples of provitamins include cholecalciferol (vitamin D3), ergosterol (vitamin D2), and tocopherols (vitamin E).
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
