So, what is psyllium fiber?
Psyllium fiber is a plant-based ingredient derived from the seeds of the Plantago ovata plant. It is a type of soluble fiber that absorbs water and forms a gel-like substance in the digestive system, helping to regulate digestion and promote bowel regularity. Psyllium fiber is also a prebiotic, meaning it feeds beneficial gut bacteria and supports overall gut health. This ingredient is commonly used in gluten-free baking and as a supplement to increase daily fiber intake. It has been studied for its potential health benefits, including lowering cholesterol and reducing inflammation.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
