So, what is sorbitantristearat?
Sorbitantristearate is a food emulsifier that is derived from sorbitol, a natural sugar alcohol. It is a waxy, white solid that is insoluble in water and commonly used in food production to stabilize emulsions and prevent separation of ingredients. Sorbitantristearate is often found in processed foods such as baked goods, margarine, and chocolate to improve texture and extend shelf life. It is considered safe for consumption by regulatory agencies such as the FDA and is generally recognized as safe (GRAS).
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
