So, what is spermaceti wax?

Spermaceti wax is a highly valued wax that is extracted from the head of the sperm whale. The wax is composed of esters of fatty acids and long-chain alcohols and has a unique crystalline structure that gives it a wide range of applications. It is often used as a lubricant, in cosmetics and personal care products, and as an ingredient in candles and polishes. Spermaceti wax is highly prized for its excellent emollient properties, which make it an ideal ingredient in skin creams and lotions. While its use is controversial due to the harm caused to whales during its extraction, alternatives such as plant-based waxes are now becoming increasingly popular.
