So, what is sulfate d'ammonium?
Sulfate d'ammonium, also known as ammonium sulfate, is an inorganic salt commonly used in a variety of food products. It is a white crystalline powder that is highly soluble in water and has a slightly bitter taste. This food ingredient is often used as a dough conditioner and a leavening agent in baked goods. It also acts as a nitrogen source in fertilizers for crops, making it a versatile and useful ingredient in both the food and agricultural industries. Sulfate d'ammonium is generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
