So, what is tristearin?
Tristearin is a natural fat molecule found in many animal and plant sources, including beef, pork, and cocoa butter. It is a triglyceride consisting of three stearic acid molecules and a glycerol backbone. Tristearin is a white, odorless, and tasteless solid at room temperature and has a high melting point, making it ideal for use in the production of candles, soaps, and cosmetics. It is also commonly used in the food industry as a coating agent, emulsifier, and thickening agent. Tristearin is considered safe for consumption and is an important ingredient in many processed foods, such as margarine and baked goods.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
