So, what is vernonia amygdalina?
Vernonia amygdalina, also known as bitter leaf, is a green leafy vegetable commonly found in West Africa. It has a distinctively bitter taste and is highly nutritious, rich in vitamins and minerals like calcium, iron, and vitamins A and C. Bitter leaf is widely used in traditional medicine to treat ailments such as fever, coughs, and malaria. It has also been shown to have potential anti-cancer properties and can help to lower blood sugar levels. Bitter leaf is often used in soups and stews, and can be sautéed or boiled to reduce its bitterness.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
