So, what is vetestärkelse?
Vetestärkelse, also known as wheat starch, is a fine, white powder derived from the endosperm of wheat kernels. It is a common ingredient used in a variety of food products such as baked goods, pasta, sauces, and soups, to thicken and improve their texture. This versatile ingredient is gluten-free and has a neutral flavor, making it a popular alternative to cornstarch in gluten-free recipes. In addition to its culinary applications, vetestärkelse is also used in the production of adhesives, paper, and textiles, due to its excellent binding and viscosity properties.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
