So, what is ~ sugar?
~ Sugar refers to any type of sugar that has not been specifically identified. This could include granulated sugar, powdered sugar, brown sugar, or any other type of sugar. The tilde symbol (~) is often used as a placeholder when the exact type of sugar is not important or when a recipe allows for flexibility in the type of sugar used. While there may be some slight differences in flavor and texture between different types of sugars, ~ sugar can generally be substituted for any type of sugar in a recipe. However, it's important to note that using a different type of sugar may alter the final taste and texture of the dish.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
