So, what is diphosphates?
Diphosphates are a type of food additive commonly used in the food industry as a leavening agent, emulsifier, and stabilizer. They are created by combining two molecules of phosphoric acid, resulting in a compound that helps baked goods rise and stay moist, while also enhancing their texture and appearance. Diphosphates are often found in baked goods, such as bread, cakes, and pastries, as well as processed meats and dairy products. Although generally considered safe for consumption, some studies suggest that excessive intake of diphosphates may have negative health effects. As with all food additives, moderation is key.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
