So, what is huiles hydrogénées?
Huiles hydrogénées, also known as hydrogenated oils, are a type of oil that has been processed to make it solid at room temperature. This process involves adding hydrogen to the oil, which changes its chemical structure and increases its shelf life. Hydrogenated oils are often used in processed foods such as baked goods, snacks, and fried foods because they can improve texture and stability. However, they are also associated with negative health effects such as increased cholesterol levels and a higher risk of heart disease. As such, many health experts recommend limiting consumption of foods containing hydrogenated oils.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
