So, what is liquorice roots?

Liquorice roots, also known as Glycyrrhiza glabra, are the dried roots of a leguminous plant native to the Mediterranean and Western Asia. The roots are typically long, woody, and fibrous, with a distinctively sweet and earthy flavor. Liquorice roots have been used for thousands of years in traditional medicine and as a natural sweetener. They contain glycyrrhizin, a compound that is up to 50 times sweeter than sugar, and have been used to flavor candies, teas, and other confections. Liquorice roots are also used in herbal remedies for a variety of ailments, including digestive issues, sore throat, and respiratory problems.
