So, what is aluminum ammonium sulfate?

Aluminum ammonium sulfate, also known as ammonium alum, is a white crystalline powder that is commonly used as a food additive. It is made by combining aluminum sulfate and ammonium sulfate, and is used to stabilize and enhance the texture of various food products, including baked goods and pickles. Aluminum ammonium sulfate is also used in water purification and as a flame retardant. Although generally recognized as safe by regulatory agencies, excessive consumption of aluminum-containing compounds has been linked to adverse health effects, so it is important to use this ingredient in moderation.
