So, what is βασιλικός?

Βασιλικός, also known as basil in English, is a highly aromatic herb that belongs to the mint family. It is native to India and other tropical regions of central Africa and southeast Asia. This herb is widely used in Mediterranean, Italian, Thai, and Indian cuisine, and is often used to add flavor to a wide variety of dishes such as salads, pasta, sauces, and soups. Basil has a sweet, slightly peppery flavor that is often described as "herbaceous" or "minty," and is rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. It is also believed to have a number of health benefits, including improving digestion, reducing inflammation, and supporting heart health.
