So, what is castaña?
Castaña, also known as chestnut, is a nut that comes from the chestnut tree. It is a versatile ingredient commonly used in both sweet and savory dishes, adding a nutty and slightly sweet flavor. Castañas are high in complex carbohydrates, fiber, and vitamins, making them a nutritious addition to any diet. They can be eaten roasted, boiled, or pureed into a paste, and are often used in desserts such as chestnut cake, chestnut ice cream, and Mont Blanc. Castañas can also be used as a gluten-free alternative to flour in baking, or as a filling for ravioli or other pasta dishes.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
