So, what is cellulase?
Cellulase is an enzyme that breaks down cellulose, a complex carbohydrate found in plant cell walls, into smaller sugar molecules. It plays a vital role in the digestive process of herbivorous animals, as they lack the necessary enzymes to digest cellulose on their own. In the food industry, cellulase is used as a natural tenderizer and flavor enhancer, particularly in the production of cheese and fruit juices. It also has potential applications in the biofuel industry, as it can assist in the breakdown of plant material for the production of biofuels.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
