So, what is cocoa paste?

Cocoa paste, also known as chocolate liquor, is a crucial ingredient in chocolate-making. It's made by grinding roasted cocoa beans into a smooth liquid, which contains both cocoa solids and cocoa butter. The paste has an intense chocolatey flavor and a rich, creamy texture that adds depth and complexity to chocolate desserts and confections. Unlike cocoa powder, which has been processed to remove most of the cocoa butter, cocoa paste contains the full flavor and richness of the cocoa bean. It's a versatile ingredient that can be used in a variety of sweet and savory recipes, from truffles and brownies to marinades and stews.

How to quickly find the source of ingredients like cocoa paste?

We've built a database of 49359 ingredients (and growing), classified as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "maybe vegan".

We use it in our vegan ingredients scanner, which is the best way to avoid non-vegan ingredients - you take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
