So, what is food-starch modified?
Food-starch modified is a common food ingredient that is derived from various starch sources, such as corn, potato, or wheat. It is produced by subjecting the starch to a series of physical, chemical, or enzymatic treatments to alter its properties. This process modifies the starch molecules, resulting in improved functional properties, such as increased viscosity, enhanced texture, and better stability. Food-starch modified is widely used in the food industry as a thickener, stabilizer, emulsifier, and binder, and it can be found in a variety of processed foods, including soups, sauces, dressings, and baked goods. It is also used in gluten-free and low-fat products to improve their texture and mouthfeel.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
