So, what is gomme du cellulose?
Gomme du cellulose, also known as cellulose gum, is a natural thickening agent derived from wood pulp or cotton. It is widely used in the food industry as an emulsifier, stabilizer, and thickener in a variety of products such as ice cream, salad dressings, and baked goods. This versatile ingredient is popular for its ability to improve the texture and viscosity of foods without altering their taste. Additionally, gomme du cellulose is a great alternative to other thickening agents, as it is gluten-free, vegan-friendly, and has no major known allergens.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
