So, what is maltose?
Maltose is a natural disaccharide made up of two glucose molecules connected by an alpha-1,4 glycosidic bond. It is commonly found in malted grains, such as barley, and is a byproduct of the enzymatic breakdown of starch. Maltose has a sweet taste and is used as a natural sweetener in various foods, including beer, candies, and baked goods. It is also used as a source of energy in sports drinks and energy bars. Maltose has a lower glycemic index compared to other sugars, making it a preferred choice for individuals with diabetes or those seeking to manage their blood sugar levels.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
