So, what is matfett?
Matfett, also known as vegetable fat or shortening, is a versatile food ingredient used in a wide range of culinary applications. Made from a blend of hydrogenated vegetable oils, matfett is solid at room temperature and has a smooth, creamy texture. It is often used as a substitute for butter or lard in baking, as it has a neutral flavor and can be easily incorporated into doughs and batters. Matfett can also be used for frying and sautéing, as it has a high smoke point and can withstand high temperatures without burning. With its long shelf life and affordability, matfett is a staple ingredient in many kitchens around the world.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
